(Depending on the booking, we can facilitate later timings for live shows to go later into the evening.)
There is a temporary loading bay directly outside the main load-in door at the front of the venue. It’s the big door with the arch.
We do not have parking on site, but can recommend NCP on Church Street.
The public entrace is round the corner through the smaller black door next to the wall with venue logo on.
Load-out from the venue must be done promptly & efficiently within a 1/2hr timeframe.
STAGE INFO
The TW Audio T20s PA is flown, and the subs are set up as End-Fire Cardioid. The system has a max SPL of 112dbC before going into active limiting and has been designed specifically for an SPL LEQ15 of 98.4dbC for every position in the house.
We have allowed headroom to create dynamic and interesting shows. Any visiting engineer who lacks control or disregards our noise policy may be asked to turn down or vacate the console and, in extreme circumstances, have their event forfeited.

The lighting rig comprises of flown moving washes and moving spots, with an LED array on the stage. We have a strict warm-white lighting policy, which with the various light fixtures gives excellent depth and dynamism to the stage. A haze machine is recommendable, and is included in venue hire.

HOSPITALITY
Our greenroom has been kitted with sofas, large dressing room mirror, free filtered water and tea making facilities and a refrigerator. No alcohol must be brought into the venue, where rider is required we will supply a case of 24 cans of premium beer at £45. For artists, an agreed tab can be run - which qualifies for a 50% discount. With 2 weeks notice, any other beverage or catering requirements can be made.
Guest list is limited to 5pax per show. This is due to our 130 live room capacity, and does not include artists or venue staff.
Feel free to get in touch in advance or ask our venue staff for any recommendations of cuisine, dietary requirements, local attractions or where things are, to enjoy Brighton & Hove while you are in town.
PROMOTION & MARKETING
We're here to help with promoting shows through our channels - our digtal marketing team are well equipped to make sure the event is communicated to relevant gig-goers. Included in the price of the venue hire, we will mirror your promotional efforts on our social channels and host the event on our website. However we cannot create promotional material for your event. Please find our venue assets here.
Please read and follow the guidelines on the booking form page here. If you have any questions - don’t hesitate to ask. Kindly, please don’t announce your event before we have ok’d the promotional material.
We expect a sufficient spend, online or physical, on marketing of your event. We will ask for updates at regular intervals.

TICKETING & BOX OFFICE
We have a venue partnership with the ticketing vendor DICE, which means events at the venue receive good exposure on this platform, therefore it’s preferential to sell tickets via DICE whenever possible.
Box office personnel can be supplied at a cost of £60 per event. Please confirm while booking your show.
We are a cashless venue, please be aware that door sales must be made with your own equipment.
MERCHANDISE
With prior notice, we can facilitate a merch table in the area toward the entrance of the venue, please confirm this with your booking. We do not charge a hire fee and you will keep 100% of sales. You will need to manage your merchandise table.
ACCESABILITY
We operate within a Grade-II listed building, built in the 1860s. Although built as a school for working-class children, we do not have the facility to give unencumbered access to users with physical access needs. There are two large staircases to the live room. We are looking to improve our accessibility for all users, any requests for special requirements please do communicate with us and we will endeavour to meet your needs.
SAFETY & SECURITY
We work with a Brighton-wide, instant-response security firm (Concierge Security) to ensure patrons are safe and looked after in the event of a breech of peace. Where security is needed past an evening show, the cost of £20p/hr (min 4hrs) will be charged to the promoter. We currently operate as a 18+ venue. With prior arrangement we are happy to allow 16+ into our venue.
NON-TICKETED EVENTS
We are available for daytime/evening events on request: Private bookings, filming, music tutorials, photo shoots etc. Please contact us to discuss rates.

PERFORMANCE CONTRACT
When booking an event at A L P H A B E T, the above requirements are binding. All agreements will be confirmed via receipt of email. Any variation may be agreed or be held liable to the promoter/artist. We do not offer payment terms, on either side. The rental fee + any agreed rider or additional costs must be paid 2 weeks before any show takes place, this is non negotiable. Any costs owed by ourselves will be paid in a prompt and communicative fashion. We reserve the right to cancel a show from 6 weeks before the planned date, where the full sum of monies will be paid back to the creditor. Moreover, +30 tickets presale must be achieved 2 weeks prior to the show date, without this we will regretfully pull the show and return £100 due to our costs incurred.
